This page describes what the TeacherPaddy app does with information today. If the way it works changes, this page will be updated.
Your account
To create an account you give your name, your email address and a password. Your password is not stored as you typed it: the app keeps only a salted, one-way hash of it, which is used to check your password when you sign in.
Your teaching information
TeacherPaddy keeps the information you enter to plan your lessons, so it is there when you come back. This includes:
- your classes, their subjects, learner numbers, term dates and timetables;
- schools you choose to add, with the location, facilities and local details you enter;
- your schemes, Weekly Learner Plans, lesson notes and the feedback you record after lessons;
- the messages you exchange with TeacherPaddy Support in the app;
- documents the app prepares for you to download, such as PDF files of your plans.
Messages from the Contact page
When you send a message from the Contact page, TeacherPaddy keeps your name, email address, subject and message so that TeacherPaddy Support can read it and reply to you by email. If you are signed in, the message is also linked to your account. These messages are read by people at TeacherPaddy, not by the AI.
Staying signed in
When you sign in, the app sets one cookie that keeps you signed in on that device for up to 30 days. It is removed when you sign out.
So that you can keep working with a weak connection, pages you open may be kept on your device. They are cleared from that device when you sign out while connected to the internet.
Reading TeacherPaddy's articles
When you read an article on teacherpaddy.com without being signed in, the site sets a cookie named tp_article on your device. It holds only an identifier of the first article you read, nothing about you, and it expires after 30 days. If you then create an account, your new account is linked to that article once, so that TeacherPaddy can see which articles help teachers start using the app.
The site also counts how many times each article is viewed and how often its buttons into the app are used, as daily totals per article. These counts do not identify you.
Security records
The app records sign-in attempts, including the email address used and whether the attempt worked, and records when accounts are created. It also uses your network address to slow down repeated failed sign-in attempts. These records help protect accounts from misuse.
Services the app uses
Some features rely on other services. They receive only what the feature needs:
- Hosting. The app, its database and the documents it creates run on Cloudflare.
- Writing plans. TeacherPaddy uses Anthropic’s AI models to assist with lesson-plan generation. When AI writing is switched on, only the details needed to draft a week's lessons are used for this: the class and its number of learners, the subject, the curriculum content, the timetable, the school's area, language and facilities that you entered, and your recent lesson feedback. Your name and email address are not part of this.
- Answering help questions. When you use Ask TeacherPaddy, the question you type is sent to the same AI service to write a short answer, with TeacherPaddy's product information and your planning-credit balance. Your name and email address are not part of this, and the question is not kept. Messages you send to TeacherPaddy Support are read and answered by people at TeacherPaddy, not by the AI.
- Finding your school. When school search is switched on, the words you type into it are sent to Google to find matching places.
- Maps. The map that shows a school's location is loaded from OpenStreetMap.
- Password reset emails. When email is switched on, reset emails are sent through Resend, which receives your email address and the message.
- Support reply emails. When email is switched on and TeacherPaddy Support replies to your support conversation, TeacherPaddy may send you an email through Resend saying there is a reply, with a link back to TeacherPaddy. Resend receives your email address and that notification. The email does not contain your support messages or the reply, which stay in TeacherPaddy.
Who can see your information
Your classes and plans are shown to you when you are signed in. The people who run TeacherPaddy can see account names and email addresses in order to manage accounts.
