Sample Scheme of Learning

What a Term Scheme of Learning looks like: one subject, planned week by week for a whole term.

Illustrative example. TeacherPaddy wrote this sample to show the structure of a Term Scheme of Learning. It is not a real teacher's plan, and it is not an official NaCCA or GES document. The weeks and topics are examples; a real scheme follows the curriculum for your class and your school's term dates.

How to read this scheme

  • One row per week. Each teaching week has one focus, so the term's content is spread evenly and nothing is left for the last weeks.
  • Strand and focus say where the week sits in the curriculum. In a real scheme, these are the curriculum's own strands and sub-strands, with the content standard and indicator codes for each week.
  • Revision weeks (weeks 6 and 12 here) have no new content, so they span the row.
  • Resources and assessment are planned with the week, so the materials can be gathered in advance and learning is checked every week, not only at the end of term.

How TeacherPaddy makes a scheme

TeacherPaddy builds the Yearly Scheme and the Term Scheme for each of your subjects from the curriculum and your term dates, with the official strands, sub-strands, content standards and indicator codes in the curriculum's order. Schemes are made without AI and download as a PDF. The Teacher, Term and Power packs include them; see pricing.

The week marked 8 above becomes a Weekly Learner Plan: see the sample Weekly Learner Plan for that week. To write a scheme yourself, read the Scheme of Learning guide.
